Gardening in 2013!
May – June
The Garden has been worked up, planted and is now in full swing of growing weeds! After planting on may long weekend the skies have been cloudy and rainy and as such I have not had the opportunity to get into the Garden to begin the chore of picking weeds, we hope to see some sunny weather soon so I can get in and get a head start on picking weeds!
WHAT I HAVE PLANTED: * CARROTS * PEAS * CUCUMBERS * SPINACH * BEANS * POTATOES * SWISS CHARD * BEATS * RADISH * PEPPERS * HERBS OF MANY KINDS * GARLIC * ZUCCHINI * TOMATOES
I have also planted a variety of flowers in pots and wild flowers around the property. I hope to continue expanding in our outdoor living spaces and landscape as I go! And last year we planted 2 apple trees one of which is doing really well. We hope to give it one more season with no fruit to help it survive!
June 2013 – Weeds and Some Growing!
The Garden is growing like wild, well the weeds in the garden are anyway!… I spent some time weeding out the big weeds in between the rows with a hand push plow that works great. As it has been raining here for many days I couldn’t get in with the rotatiller without making a big mess and couldn’t get down on hands and knees to get in between the sprouting plants but it has warmed up now and the sun has been shining for a day and a half so I am hoping that the garden will dry out enough to get in to it.
Lucky for me it did dry out enough outside to mow the lawn… this has not been done in over 2 weeks and so what a long mess that was, I must have mowed each row at least twice! The yard is looking good and if this keeps up I will be able to spray the path to the fire pit with weed killer and that should take care of the knee high weeds that tickle our legs on the walk to the fire pit! I hope the weather keeps up for a few more days and I might even get some other landscaping done that I was hoping to do!
The Garden did so well … zucchini came in like wild and so did the tomatoes! we had enough potatoes to last us into the new year and peas and beans were a big hit!… Looking forward to Gardening again soon!!!
